Keane's Tom Chaplin described K'Naan as "Eminem with a heart" in an interview on the Keane website earlier this week.
K'Naan said earlier this month he was in the studio with the British band, who he described as "amazing guys and great musicians." Chaplin said Keane had "a few songs knocking about for a while now" and the band wanted to work on them "with someone who was in a completely different world," so they chose K'Naan.
"We were desperate to work with somebody like K'Naan," he said. "What I like most about him is that he's very emotional for a hip-hop artist. I was describing him earlier as like Eminem with a heart. But he stamped his mark on the songs and they sound great.
"Once we've got it finished production-wise — which we were actually working on in a studio in Brisbane the other day — I think people are gonna love it."
K'Naan apparently sings and raps on the song, according to Chaplin, who described K'Naan's voice as "very soulful."
"Our voices seemed to work really well in tandem, which is great. You never really know what to expect with a collaboration, but when the singing side of it gels I think you know you're onto something good. In this case, it seems to have been a really successful combination."
K'Naan is touring in support of the recently released Troubadour and will play these dates:
